Gelatin cake recipe9/8/2023 The best results I’ve had have been with pure unsweetened applesauce or unsweetened applesauce mixed with other flavors. Fruits with too much water content also don’t work. Many fruits don’t work because of their high sugar content (bananas, etc). Unfortunately, it turns out this cake only works with a limited set of ingredients. When I first shared my apple cloud cake, I thought there would be so many other versions I could make with other fruit. If you can’t find any flavored unsweetened applesauce, you can use regular plain unsweetened applesauce. It makes the batter too heavy and too wet. Unsweetened Mixed Berry Applesauce: Any flavored applesauce will work but you must use unsweetened applesauce. It will not work with flavored gelatin (like Jello). Gelatin Powder: This recipe is made with unflavored gelatin powder. The berries add a tartness to the cake that makes it more flavorful. I’ve been trying to come up with new flavors and this version has been my favorite. The original apple cloud cake is fun to make and eat, but the taste is a bit plain. I previously made an Apple Cloud Cake which was really fun, but this version has even more flavor. I think it’s perfect for when you are craving dessert but still want to eat healthy as well. It looks like a cake but it’s not quite a cake. This dessert is just 2 ingredients and doesn’t require any flour, eggs, added sugar, butter or oil. It is very fluffy and melts in your mouth. You could even cut out shapes in paper, lay them on the cake, and sprinkle the powdered sugar by hand leaving fun shapes on the cake when the paper is removed – like a stencil. This unique no bake dessert looks like a cake but feels like you are eating a cloud. You can use any kind of mesh strainer (they sell them at the dollar store) instead of a sifter. How can I sprinkle the powdered sugar evenly? This cake is sweet all on its own – no need for frosting! The powdered sugar gives just a touch more sweetness and decorates the cake a bit as well, but isn’t totally needed either. Unwrap and warm in the microwave when ready to eat. Sprinkle powdered sugar over top of cooled cake.Ībsolutely! Just wrap tightly before freezing. Pour batter into a greased baking dish and bake until cake tester comes out clean. How to make strawberry jello cake:Īdd cake mix, strawberry jello mix, water, oil, and eggs in a bowl and beat with a hand mixer.Īdd thawed strawberries to batter and beat again with the mixer until well incorporated. Yes! Just mash them slightly with a fork before adding them to the cake batter and mixing with the hand mixer. Nope, just use the dry cake mix and jello mix and follow the recipe below!Ĭan I use fresh strawberries instead of frozen strawberries? No, the jello gets mixed right in with the cake batter so the strawberry flavor is throughout the whole cake. I just love that pink color inside! And the sprinkled powdered sugar on top makes it extra pretty. This is a great cake to take to a cookout this summer, or even a bridal or baby shower. Strawberry Jello Cake combines two of my favorite flavors so I adore this pretty cake! I might make some enemies here, but strawberry jello is sooooo much better than cherry jello! Actually, I’m not really a huge fan of cherry flavored anything so my opinion is pretty skewed. Strawberry Jello Cake is perfect for spring and summer! White cake mix, strawberry jello mix, strawberries, and powdered sugar – sweet and delicious!
